Steadfast In Your Resolve

STEADFAST IN YOUR RESOLVE

Now it came to pass,
when the time had come for Him to be received up,
that He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem.
Luke 9:51

It is easy to become distracted in the Christian life! The moment you understand what God wants you to do, it will seem as though everyone around you requires your time and attention, but you must remain steadfast in your resolve – just as Jesus did when it came time for Him to go to the cross. He “set His face” toward Jerusalem. He did not allow anything to prevent Him from accomplishing His Father’s will.

Jesus was determined not to deviate from His mission. However, Jesus made the time to minister to many people along His way. He sent out seventy disciples into the surrounding towns (Luke 10:1). Jesus also healed lepers (Luke 17:11-19). He brought salvation to the home of Zacchaeus (Luke 19:1-10). Jesus continued to teach to His disciples (Luke 15:1-32). Jesus did not refuse to minister to others as He went to Calvary; instead, He refused to be deterred from His Father’s will.

As you pray today, thank God for giving you His Son, who is the ultimate example of how to live! Ask God to help you become more steadfast in your resolve to follow His will. Ask God to help you resist becoming sidetracked. When you have received a clear assignment from God, ask Him to help you battle the temptation to delay your obedience in completing that assignment. Let your determination glorify God and be obvious to those around you. Amen.
