About White Hall Baptist Church

Mission Statement

Jesus gave the church its commission when He said:

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19, 20

Our focus has been to be a Word-Centered church by keeping the Bible front and center in all we do. That’s why we use 2 Timothy 2:15 as a verse to rally around, reminding us to “Rightly Divide the Word of Truth”.

Our Leadership

Pastor Matt Ellis

Bro Matt Ellis

Pastor

I married my soulmate, Kim, on May 10, 1997. Since then, God has given us three wonderful sons, a daughter-in-law, and a precious granddaughter.

I sensed God’s call upon my life while working on my bachelor’s degree at Lexington Baptist College. I sensed very clearly that He had set me apart to serve as a pastor. I continued my education by pursuing my Master of Divinity at Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary (Memphis, TN) and completing it at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (Louisville, KY). I have previously pastored four churches, two in Kentucky and two in Florida.

Besides my family, church, and the Lord, I have two other “loves” in my life. First, I love to write to help others grow in their faith. I have self-published a few books on Amazon and write regularly on my website, Matt’s Musings, at mattsmusings.net. Second, I love exercising and have enjoyed biking, hiking, running, and, most recently, weightlifting.

If I had a life verse, it would probably be 1 Timothy 4:7-8, where it says: “… train yourself in godliness. For the training of the body has limited benefit, but godliness is beneficial in every way, since it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.”

Serving Him together,

Matt Ellis

Vincent Carman

Senior Adult Visitation Pastor

I was called into the ministry on December 8, 1966, and have served for 57 years.  During that time, I was on staff at a church in Miami, FL, and planted a church in Framingham, MA. I have also served as pastor of churches in Indiana and Kentucky.

In the Tates Creek Baptist Association, I have served as Brotherhood Director, Church Training Director, Evangelism Chairman, Moderator, Missions Director and Partnership Missions Coordinator. I led the association in partnerships in Africa, Panama, and a Home Mission Partnership with Treasurer State Baptist Association in Montana.  I participated in disaster relief efforts in Illinois, North Carolina, and Mississippi.

After my retirement in December 2012, Jeanie and I found a home at White Hall Baptist Church.  We are blessed by the fellowship of God’s people and the ministry of our Pastor, Bro. Tim Beard. In our church I serve as Senior Adult Visitation Pastor which involves visiting our senior adult shut-ins on a regular basis.

My life verse is found in Joshua 1:8-9: “8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. 9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.” KJV

In Christ,
Vincent Carman

Deacons

Deacons 2025

In accordance with the teaching and practice of the New Testament, Deacons are to be ordained servants of the church. The task of the Deacon is to assist the pastor in performing the pastoral ministries of the church, in caring for church members and people of the community, and in leading the church to engage in fellowship and worship. The emphasis for the deacon body is intended to be service and ministry, rather than administration.

“For those who have served well as deacons obtain for themselves a good standing and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.”
1 Timothy 3:13

Trustees

We currently have seven Trustees in our Church. Our duties include locking and securing the building after each service. We also work with with vendors and contractors. We complete monthly tasks and repairs on the building and grounds. We are involved with all major repairs and construction work slated for future improvements or upgrades. Our goal is to provide a clean, safe, attractive, comfortable building to worship our Lord and Savior for ALL who enter our doors.

“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
Ephesians 2:10
