Reverence
REVERENCE
Therefore, brethren,
having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus,
by a new and living way which He consecrated for us,
through the veil, that is, His flesh.
Hebrews 10:19-20

Our generation lacks a sense of wonder and reverence toward God. Instead, we want to bring God down to our level, to the commonplace. He is God! We should never forget that our direct access to Him was purchased with the precious blood of His only Son. When we truly understands this, we should enter God’s presence with a sense of holy awe. When we truly comprehend the incredible price paid at Calvary, then we also know that our relationship with God should not be taken for granted and instead be treated with absolute reverence.

Furthermore, we must also understand the way God relates to us. We must first gain a true sense of His holiness and His demand for holiness among His people. If we are in God’s presence, we are on holy ground! Therefore, we must never act as if it were God’s purpose to make us successful. Indeed, it would be preposterous for us to become impatient when God does not answer our prayers when and how we think He should – He is God!

As you pray today, take the time to truly meditate on the price Jesus paid to give you access to the Father. Think about the time you spend in prayer, and the time you spend in Bible study. Scripture will become dear to you as you strive to be holy in all that you do (2 Corinthians 7:1; 1 Peter 1:15). Also think about the time you spend in worship. Prayer and Bible study and worship are not just treasures, they are also a privilege – granted to you through the blood of Jesus. Thank God for all of these privileges, the gift of His Son, His Holy Word, and your freedom to worship Him. God’s gift of salvation is priceless! Amen.
