Be Salty
BE SALTY
“You are the salt of the earth;
but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned?
It is then good for nothing
but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.”
Matthew 5:13

God’s people are His preserving agents for a world that is corrupted because of sin. Consequently, your life is designed and commissioned by God to enhance your community and to preserve what is good and right. There is a deep significance today for a godly life that is involved in its community. Are you prepared to be salty?

ASK YOURSELF

Are you in a right relationship with Jesus? If that answer is no, then Jesus explains that you are like salt that has lost its saltiness, and is good for nothing. As a result, none of God’s saving grace and power can be dispensed through you to others. How do you test the “saltiness” of your life?

  • Look at your family. Are you preserving it from the destructive influences that surround it?
  • Examine your workplace. Are the sinful influences in your work environment being halted because you are there?
  • Observe your community. Is it a better place because you are involved in it?
  • What about your church? The evidence that you have been used by God as a preserving agent is that things are becoming spiritually better around you instead of worse.

JESUS EXPRESSES HIMSELF THROUGH YOU

Furthermore, the presence of Christ in you makes all that He is available to others. Look at the impact this can have on the others in your life:

  • His salvation can free an addict, mend a broken home, heal the pain of the past, restore a wayward child, and comfort a grieving heart.

As you pray today, think about your family, your friends, your church, your workplace, and your community. If people around you are deteriorating spiritually, then you need to go to the Lord and allow Him to adjust your life so that you can be used to preserve others. You need to be salty! Study the Scripture to learn more about the importance of living a salty life. Ask God to help you find new ways to adjust your saltiness to better serve those around you. Amen!
