Brother Tim’s
Retirement Celebration
Sunday, September 15th was a special day at White Hall Baptist Church as it was Bro. Tim’s Retirement Celebration!
Bro. Tim and Stephanie have faithfully served the Lord through their ministry of over 40 years. Twenty four of those years have been here with us at Whitehall Baptist Church.
Sunday was Tim’s last day to preach for us. Afterwards, we gathered in the fellowship hall for his retirement celebration, with lots of food and many heartfelt words for Tim and Stephanie.
It was also a day of great sadness and many tears, because we do not want to see Bro. Tim go. He has taught us, prayed for us, loved us unconditionally, and walked beside each of us in good times and bad. His unwavering faith through the years has caused all of us to strive for a closer relationship with God.
Stephanie has led our women’s ministry, taken care of our children, taught Sunday School for many years, and served in countless other areas in our church. She has also served in other countries, alongside Bro. Tim.
What a marvelous team God gave to us with them.
Commenting on her father’s retirement, Jessica Johnston, said, “He is the most godly man I know, and I’ve had a front row seat to his life, and behind the scenes. He truly lives what he preaches. It has been an absolute honor and privilege to sit in that pew and look up and listen to him preach all my life. I can honestly say I’ve never witnessed so much love, adoration, respect, gratitude, and honor [for someone’s retirement]”.
Gail, long-time secretary at WHBC, said, “Bro. Tim and I have worked together for 17 years, and I wouldn’t trade one second of that time for anything. I will miss Tim and Stephanie so much.”
Bro. Tim has not retired from serving the Lord. Instead, God is leading him in another direction. Like always, Tim will spend time in prayer seeking God’s will, and follow where He leads. Bro. Tim had a final message for the church:
“Since January of 2001, I have had the privilege and honor of serving as pastor of White Hall Baptist Church. Stephanie and I are thankful for being a part of this great fellowship of believers for almost 24 years. It was not an easy decision to retire from the pastoral ministry. However, we felt God was leading us to take this step, and I preached my final sermon on September 15, 2024.
We are thankful for all the support and encouragement we have received through the years. It has been an amazing journey. We love and appreciate the members and leadership of White Hall and will certainly miss serving alongside of you. You are a wonderful church and we are thankful for the years we were blessed to share together.
As the church turns another page in its history, I am confident God has great things in store for you. We will be praying for the church as you seek God’s will and direction concerning a new pastor. White Hall Baptist Church will always be in our hearts and minds. We love you and will never forget you.”
