When Christ Gives A Command
WHEN CHRIST GIVES A COMMAND
And He sent out two of His disciples and said to them,
“Go into the city…”
Mark 14:13

When Christ gives a command, you must obey. You may not understand the details, you may be confused, you may feel unsure of the outcome – but you must obey.

Preparation For Passover

Jesus gave Peter and John very detailed instructions to go to a certain town and look for a particular man performing a specific task. Jesus told them this man would have a large room, furnished and ready to observe the Passover. Peter and John might have thought these instructions were unusual had it not been their Lord speaking, but the two disciples obeyed. Consequently, the two disciples found everything just as Jesus had said. Jesus knew exactly what they would find, and so He gave them very specific guidance. Indeed, one of the most memorable and precious times the disciples would spend with their Teacher hinged on the obedience of Peter and John in following Jesus’ command.

Obedience to Christ’s Commands Brings Fulfillment

When Christ gives a command, obey immediately. Don’t wait until you have figured it all out and everything makes perfect sense to you. Sometimes God will lead you to do things that you will not fully understand until after you have done them. He may not reveal all the details of His will when He first speaks to you. Instead, He may tell you enough information so you can implement what He has said, but He withholds some details so that you must continue to rely upon His guidance. Furthermore, your response will affect what God does next in your life. Likewise, your obedience may affect how others around you experience Christ as well.

As you pray today, take a long look at your current situation and search for a directive from God. Is there is any directive that you have not obeyed? Or, are you aware of a directive, but you are struggling to understand it? Pray for His guidance, ask for wisdom and discernment as you seek to obey His command. Then watch as God’s perfect plan unfolds in your life. Amen.
